
Carlos Herrera
Master’s of Social Work Intern
Carlos Herrera, an intern from National University, offers in-person and telehealth sessions at our Hagerstown office, under the supervision of Rebecca Grady, LCSW-C. Carlos brings extensive experience in social work and mental health to our team. He holds an Alcohol Addiction Trainee License and has dedicated over a decade to working with at-risk youth in various settings, including inpatient hospitals, group homes, juvenile detention facilities, and community probation.
Carlos works with children, adolescents, and adults, and is committed to meeting individuals and families where they are. He provides tailored support and interventions that address and align with their unique needs. Ethical practice and understanding each individual's perspective are central to his approach. Carlos empowers individuals by collaboratively developing crisis and safety plans, focusing on their strengths, and creating goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely (SMART). Fluent in Spanish (Habla Español), he is passionate about fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Carlos utilizes a client-centered, strength-based approach, and has received training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. He is experienced in addressing a wide range of concerns, including: substance abuse, ADHD, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, divorce/separation, depression, family conflict, grief, life transitions, panic disorders, parenting/parent-child concerns, personality disorders, self-esteem challenges, stress management, and trauma.
