Lorena Gonzalez, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, creates a warm, collaborative, and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. She believes therapy is a powerful path for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. Lorena helps individuals navigate life's challenges, empowering them to reconnect with their innate strengths and guiding them towards a more fulfilling life. Her goals include fostering self-understanding, facilitating meaningful change, and building resilience.
With a background in education and a natural ability to connect with children and adolescents, Lorena offers therapeutic services to clients of all ages—children, adolescents, and adults. She sees clients at our Laurel Office, via Telehealth, and in person within Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Lorena specializes in working with individuals facing challenges such as ADHD, anger management, anxiety, Body Image Issues, depression, Grief, Panic Disorders, self-esteem , Spirituality, Stress management, and Trauma. Lorena utilizes a strengths-based, person-centered approach, integrating humanistic theory, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT into her practice. She is also comfortable providing integrated Christian counseling for clients who prefer this approach. Lorena works under the supervision of Jennifer Lowery, LCPC, our Clinical Director and Board Approved Supervisor.
Outside of work, Lorena enjoys physical activities like weight training, yoga, and cardio. Music is also a big passion of hers.
