Christina Palermo

LMSW

Therapist

Christina provides a safe and supportive environment, fostering collaboration and curiosity as she attentively and compassionately listens to individuals. Her approach helps those she works with  delve into their inner world to uncover and gently examine habitual patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—many of which operate outside of conscious awareness. She supports individuals in understanding how these patterns affect their relationships, choices, and sense of self. Through this process, clients develop insight and emotional awareness, enabling them to discover and implement new, more aligned, intentional, and authentic ways of responding.

Christina is a dedicated mental health professional with a decade of experience serving a diverse clientele, including Children, Adolescents, Adults, Couples, and Families. Her extensive background spans various settings, such as public and charter schools in NYC, nursing homes, and in-patient facilities. She currently offers both telehealth as well as  in-person services to students within Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Christina employs a person-centered and integrative approach, grounded in strength-based principles. Her therapeutic practice is enriched by drawing on a diverse array of modalities. These include core theories such as Humanistic Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT); action-oriented approaches like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Social Skills Training, and Play Therapy; and techniques focused on Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy. Christina specializes in addressing a broad spectrum of concerns, including emotional and mental well-being issues such as anxiety, depression, panic disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), trauma, grief, anger management, and chronic pain. She also works with family and relationship dynamics, including family conflict, co-parenting, separation/divorce, divorce recovery, issues related to absent parents, and blended families. Her areas of focus also encompass matters of self, identity, and life transitions, such as self-esteem, spiritual exploration, concerns specific to the LGBTQ+ community, and major life changes. Finally, she addresses cognitive and stress-related issues, including ADHD, communication skills development, and stress management.

In her free time, Christina enjoys activities such as hiking, practicing meditation and yoga, reading, gardening, and spending quality time with her family.
