Karen A. Malveaux Joy, LMSW, is a compassionate and intuitive therapist with four years of experience, including having specialized training in complex trauma. She is dedicated to fostering mental wellness and prioritizes cultivating deep, authentic emotional connections with her clients. Karen believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to empowering individuals, providing steadfast support as they courageously navigate personal challenges.  Her practice is built on a foundation of trust and understanding, creating a safe space for clients to explore emotions, process experiences, and develop effective coping mechanisms. Karen's insightful nature allows her to intuitively grasp underlying emotional currents, offering a holistic and responsive therapeutic experience.

 

Karen offers telehealth sessions for adolescents and adults dealing with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and family concerns. She customizes interventions to meet each client's unique needs, drawing from techniques such as Internal Family Systems, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, Psychodynamic, social skills training, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Karen also provides Integrated Christian counseling for clients who prefer this approach.


Outside of work, Karen enjoys walking, reading for her book club, traveling, and entertaining. She is also a dog lover and likes to relax by watching TV.
