With over ten years of experience in the mental health field, Louis Pharel, LMSW, has worked in various settings, including outpatient services, city government health and human services, and residential programs. He is dedicated to a client-centered approach, focusing on understanding the underlying causes of challenges by considering the social environment and fostering self-sufficiency in individuals. Louis promotes greater awareness of mental health conditions, encourages open dialogue, and supports collaborative family strategies to help individuals overcome obstacles and achieve greater success. He offers sessions at our Laurel office and through telehealth.
Louis specializes in supporting children and adults aged 4 to 30. His practice focuses on addressing symptoms related to addiction , ADHD, anger , anxiety, family concerns, depression, grief, LGBTQ+ Issues, life transitions, OCD, panic disorders, racial trauma, self-esteem, stress and, trauma. Louis employs an integrative, person-centered, strengths-based approach, drawing from various therapeutic modalities. These include Humanistic Theory, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Social Skills Training, and Trauma-Focused CBT.
