Meka Butler, LCPC , provides a secure and non-judgmental environment for adolescents  and adults, both at the Laurel office and through telehealth services. Drawing upon over four years of experience as a school counselor, in group practice, and with adolescents on the autism spectrum, Meka assists individuals in managing daily stressors, emotional difficulties, and feelings of detachment.


Her approach is characterized by compassion and practicality, guiding clients to pause, recenter, and reintegrate their experiences. Meka specializes in supporting individuals through transitions, trauma, anxiety, and depression. She combines empathy with strategic interventions, exploring clients' internal landscapes while simultaneously developing crucial coping mechanisms, personal boundaries, and self-assurance.  Ultimately, Meka's objective is not to "fix" individuals, but to help individuals reconnect with the version of themselves who  feels whole, clear, and grounded


Meka employs an integrative therapeutic approach, incorporating techniques such as motivational interviewing, , person-centered Therapy,  strengths-based therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Furthermore, she possesses a specialized interest and training in Stress Relief Muscle Meditation and Mindful Meditation.  


Outside sessions, Meka leads an active life, working out, traveling, and adventuring with her children. She reads mystery novels, enjoys her cats, and plans meaningful gatherings. Passionate about community, she creates safe, affirming spaces for the LGBTQ+ community through social groups. Meka prioritizes joy, balance, and connection in all aspects of life.
